What is the difference??

  • 2D Imaging

The most common form of ultrasound that produces a two-dimensional, black and white image.

  • 3D Imaging

Three-dimensional ultrasound images are a compilation of 2D images taken from multiple different angles to create your 3D image.

  • 4D Imaging

Four dimensional ultrasound is basically the same as 3D images, except they show movement. With 4D imaging you can watch your baby move, suck their thumb, and yawn.

  • HD Imaging

HD imaging also known as 5D imaging, is the next level up from 4D. With more developed software, you can obtain images with much more detail allowing parents to see more characteristics of their baby!

 FAQs

  • An ultrasound is a non-invasive diagnostic imaging technique that uses high-frequency sound waves to create images of the inside of the body. It is commonly used during pregnancy to monitor the development of the fetus, but can also be used to visualize other organs such as the heart, liver, and kidneys.

Ultrasound imaging is safe, painless, and does not involve any radiation exposure, making it a valuable tool in healthcare for both routine screenings and diagnosing medical conditions.

  • An elective ultrasound is an ultrasound that is done for entertainment purposes. It can also be done for extra reassurance and bonding throughout your pregnancy. Ultrasounds performed by Life in Bloom Sonography Studio are strictly elective at this time.

A diagnostic ultrasound is an ultrasound exam that has been ordered by a physician for medical purposes. Whether it is for normal screening purposes or to monitor certain pregnancy complications.

  • Each trimester varies.

    1st Trimester (7-14 weeks) - after 7 weeks for 2D images/heartbeat and after 9 weeks for 3D/4D/HD images.

2nd Trimester (14-28 weeks) - for gender specifically the closer to 20 weeks, the higher the accuracy but we can usually see after 15 weeks.

3rd Trimester (28-40 weeks) - most clients tend to find that 30-34 weeks give the best 3D/4D/HD images.

  • With 2D imaging, we can determine gender of baby as early as 14 weeks, however the further along you are, the higher the accuracy.

We also are a SneakPeek Clinical site where we can do the Early Gender DNA testing as early as 6 weeks!

  • With Life in Bloom Sonography Studio, you can have as many scans as you want!! We love to watch your baby grow just as much as you do!

  • You may bring up to 6 guests with you to your ultrasound. If you do bring children, please make sure to bring someone with you to help supervise them.

  • First Trimester scan? YES!

Please have a full bladder prior to arriving for your scan. This helps to create a "window" so that we can better see your uterus thus seeing your baby!

    Second/Third Trimester scan? NO!

For scans after 14 weeks, you DO NOT need a full bladder to obtain images.

  • 1st Trimester: come with a full bladder, bring something cold to drink, and have a sweet treat on your way to the studio.

2nd/3rd Trimester: you DO NOT need a full bladder at this point in your pregnancy. Be sure to bring a cold drink with you and have a sweet treat on your way to the studio.

Also increase your water intake for 1 week prior to you scheduled appointment to ensure there is adequate fluid around the baby.
